I'm at my Mum's. I decided to come because she was going on about not having seen us and I don't want her to visit for various reasons. I'm not sure it was a good idea. I'm not feeling mentally very well and I've already had red mist with her over her constant worries about subsidence. She says I look tired.

Hugs to all needing them today. A lot of stressful stuff going on for people. ((LindsD)) - it sounds as though you need to look after yourself first so you can be there for your mum.

Linds - you can’t look after others if you’re not well yourself, it will take your remaining reserves. Take care.

Sorry to hear that MM.

Hope 111 sort it USB.

Oh dear Big_G - it does sound as though he isn’t acting rationally. A mental capacity assessment can be arranged quickly and may well be followed by Deprivation of Liberty. Difficult times for you.

Hope things are improving Baz.

Aw big hugs to all who need and remember we are no use to anyone if we don’t look after ourselves first.

Sister has travelled down to my dad’s and hopefully she will get into the care home to see him. They have found a place for him up here but not the one we really want but at the moment they won’t take anyone in that is not living within their radius. Hopefully once we get him here they will then take him. I rather think it’s going to be a slow process but one that is finally moving.

I think the bigger headache will be trying to clear and sell the house 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️. The distance is such a nuisance

About This Thread

I thought I'd start a thread, as lots of us have elderly folks that we worry about/care for.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
