What paper Psimon? The Evening News?

There is a mention a few pages back of 23rd June being the date the race results need to be submitted to..(?)...and somone has this bookmarked for then.

Also note a couple of comments on the Bournemouth Marathon page as that is a GSI event.

in relation to the BMF result for this years event...it is a GSi event so will be subject to whatever policy GSi choose. Hopefully the 'storm' around the publication of results from EMF will make them review their policy and publish the results. Time will tell...

Nookie, no local paper to me, which is in Essex.

Would be at least nice to know what the real reason is behind non disclosure.

So Santababy you are suggesting it is very unlikely this is going to change. I do fear you are correct

Cheers Santa. I agree that I expect GSI will wait for the fuss to die down and maybe they just see this as a few nutters, er I meant 'enthusiasts', that are making a noise.

Good to hear your local paper is interested in this - hopefully it will get the attention of more runners.

are gsi even bothered about sa sanctions? it's a big money event they can do what they want, and as it's established runners will keep coming. Lets face it Edinburgh and East lothian don't exactly embrace the race, latest anti marathon is a petition up in local shops about parking issues on the day. The locals don't want it, runners complain, yet it still attracted 8000 runners even if this is down on the 12000 a few years ago it's still a big race that can take all the boycotts you want to throw at it. GSI aren't bothered about SA or EA, they'll hold their event with or without them.

GSI will be happy that they have ridden out the storm now....they woint publish results.

They will of course next year be lucky if they can claim IAAF Bronze and SCottish AThletics accreditation. That said though, that wont stop a race, but will likely impact numbers.

This is my second post since finishing last Sunday.
I would just like to say that I thought it was a really well run event. yes there are things that annoy people but all-in-all I think it was good. I organise my own run albeit tiny in comparison and I know how tough it is to put on an event.
The start was really well signposted, the funnels to the loos and the loos by the actual start pens were more than adequate. the PA system kept everyone totally informed too.
The crowds at the begining and all around the course were great. Water and gels were exactly where they said they'd be and the general publics assistance with sweets, fruit etc was brillinat.
the out and back was a pain but it actually took my mind off things for a bit watching the faster runners.
St Johns appeared to be everywhere and anyone I did see in distress were being tended to.
I loved the crowds just prior to the finish how they were within touching distance as they squuezed in and out compared to how many runners were approaching (felt like the Tour de France tbh)
The finish line was great, loud, welcoming and the matting I was dreading actually felt nice under my sore feet.
I was so impressed that I received my finish time text before I got to the goody bags. There was enough water to bathe in stacked in crates by the exit door however all runners seemed aware not to abuse this as there would be people coming in behind them.

My bag was waiting for me, yep on the wet grass but was better than carrying it all the way!!!
Loved the refreshment stands and the walk to the bus.....

....well although I moaned and swore most of the way it was laid on by the organisers, very efficient and although I'd paid appeared to actually be free to anyone who turned up. Very slick once I got there too. Had to be better than the public transport/taxi option???
Great medal albeit a potential offensive weapon but then I like different medals and the tee shirt was great - the 26.2 on the back is a great boast.
Thank you Edinburgh for a great weekend, I didn't think it was that different to London which I have to say is ultra-slick.
Oh and I got a 41minute PB so this maybe why I'm slihjt;y rose-tinted in my views. 4:01:57 fo rme.

Hope to see you next year. Ginge

If the local shops embraced the race a bit more, some of them may get more business that day that the rest of the days combined. Very short sighted.

For anyone wanting to use this time as a qualification for another race (VLM/Boston etc) then download the certificate and show as proof. We may never know the reasons behind the non publication, the director (and there is only one unfortunately) has made the decision not to and we have to live with it. I only hope that they (he) is appropriated sanctioned by the governing bodies and the general public. This is not in the spirit of the sport, which tends to be an inclusive community, if he wants to isolate himself from the general running community (like has happened with Kilomathon) then let him.
