Congratulations to everyone on some great Alloa times! Would you recommend it? I'm eyeing next year's hungrily.
Donaldo, which route did you use for your 20-miler towards Auchterarder? My parents live in Dunblane (although I live in London), and I used to run an eight-mile loop through Kinbuck and through the hills past Auchenlay. If you have any tips for routes in the area I'd be grateful!
Thanks.

Happy to help. Your 8 miler is ideal, I use it myself often. For my 20, it was just straight out and back. Through Kinbuck, all the way to Braco, then a left followed by a right after half a mile on a single track road to Auchterarder until the Garmin says 10 and reverse! There are many excellent runs up around Sheriffmuir if you dont mind hilly roads.

Thanks Donaldo. Sounds like a good route! I ran up Dumyat once at 6am and it nearly killed me, but I'd love to give Sheriffmuir a go. Thanks again!

Here's a brilliant 16 miler. Start at the fourways roundabout (the one at the golf/tennis club) in Dunblane - run up towards the Sherrifmuir Inn, hook a left and continue upwards, over the highest point of the road and down the other side for about a mile. Take another left down towards Greenloaning, cross the A9 (be careful!!) and head to Braco, taking another left and the head back to Dunblane via Kinbuck. Challenging and hilly, I've only ever done it on a bike!!

I love how casually you say "Run up towards the Sheriffmuir Inn"! I'll look forward to trying that route when I'm next home (probably after the Edinburgh Marathon). Heading up that way and taking the backroads to Bridge of Allan can be fun too.

Ye, I've done that in the past - this years marathon training is staying firmly on the flat though! Just had a blast round the Auchinlay route, which is 7.2 miles for me. Did a time trial and got round in 49:25, was over the moon!

Just checking my time on the race predictor calculator and that run today gives me a chance of getting about 3:16 in the marathon - hopefully by the end of May, I'll be a little bit faster and break the 3:15. I think it'll be too early to break 3 hours now but there is always next year! What are other folks target times?
