Anyone else doing the Edinburgh to North Berwick 20 mile race on May 4th? Great warm up for the marathon. It's a good day to do a race. May the 4th be with you! haha

I was hoping to do it but at a hen party... which coincidentally I in Edinburgh. I reckon we wouldn't be doing much in the morning so could probably get away with disappearing but would mean I'd have to curtail my drinking on the Friday and then would be playing catch up on the Saturday afternoon....hmmm...

Anyone else at the road relays in Livingston today? I thoroughly enjoyed it and my 5.8 mile time equates to a 3:10 marathon (using a clever comparison programme on Kinross runners website). Still got 8 weeks to work on that 10 minutes!!!!

my friend Chris was running at it today donaldo, haven't had an update yet but she is bloody fast so I expect she will have done well. That's a brilliant time you are aiming for, wow:)
My long run was cut short today when I hit a patch of black ice on the Linhouse circle (donaldo will know where that is) and fell all my length landing on my shoulders and neck. Cue comedy hobbling home covered in mud from my head to my ankles, new saucony shoes well and truly christened.

That's awful, jacs, what a crap way to end a run. How are you feeling now? Still sore? I once fell in the middle of the dual carraigeway in Paisley, splitting my knee apart. It was ages before someone stopped to help me out!
I did 2:57 back in 2005 but would be happy with 3:15 this time around. I can still dream of sub-3 again though!

Hope your ok Jacs! I fell during marathon training in 2009 and managed to break my elbow and earn an operation to wire it together again. But I didn't smash my Garmin.
Well done at the relays!

Lol - on todays marathon talk podcast Susan Partidge said runners learn to land on their face to avoid injuries !!!
I ran into a road sign once and ended up in A&E with a horrific gash on my forehead

I actually thought when I went down 'at least I haven't broken my leg', running makes you mental doesn't it. Bazoaxe, I somehow managed to run into a dog poo bin once years ago, had a brilliant bruised face for ages after. I have a very stiff hip today so clearly did do the important limbs in a bit, may do a short training session and reschedule the long run for another day instead since I'm off school now anyway.
