Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

haha, lets see...if I get a payrise it will not offset the rising costs,

There are other ways of managing as well, but most of which relate to saving less, but some of these then have a double whammy as putting less into my pension for example means I pay more tax

To be fair I am very lucky in that I can find ways to manage. The impact on many others though and how they will make ends meet is very worrying

Indeed, my payrise won't (isn't) offset the rising costs, am sure we'll be ok though as long as we keep our jobs

There’s been no pay rise for 18 months for virtually all of my colleagues

We had no payrise in April 21 (*), but there was one in April 20 albeit not much. April 2019 no one earning £75k+ (I am not in that group) got a payrise and the small pot was shared around the under £75k earners

(*) By virtue of taking a new job I did get a payrise that went with the new role which was very fortunate.

Lots of focus on NI and energy price rises, but the upcoming CPI plus 3.7% rise in phone and broadband prices is going to hit people too.

Yes, forgot about those Glenn.

I have heard talk of Virgin raising prices but nothing formal from them yet. Might need to negotiate although my current deal is a pretty good one and includes a free unlimited SIM which saves on phones cost.

For phones I pay for my wife and daughter but their contracts end in March/June and so I will have a saving there as they go to SIM only. That said my wife has her eyes on an upgrade, but my daughter is working and earning and o the deal is if she upgrades, she pays but I will pay SIM only if thats what she does (as we did with my son when he started working)

Increasing rises in house prices too, i'm assuming a rate rise would start to slow that, which must be a good thing surely, rate of increase seems unsustainably high right now

So, todays the day, any predictions?

I think we might get a .25% rise
