57.5 Degrees of Pain
I bore no malice to the R******s for the role Theisman/ Riggins had in curtailing the success of the mid-80s Bears. But Daniel Snyder was such an unpleasant proto-Trump figure I have wished nothing but disappointment and disaster on them since he took over. Luckily they have performed splendidly as serial failures almost every year since.

Nice to hear that the plan to have the triumphant return of the NFL promote Trump's election efforts are starting to unravel thanks in part to the manifest failures of the Federal governnent.

Slightly surprises me that Washington are getting so much stick while the Cleveland Indians and the Boston Braves (currently resident in Atlanta) are going largely untutted at, at least this side of the pond.

According to Wikipedia both Cleveland and Atlanta have been getting stick for a number of years on their names, logos, songs, etc

Wouldn’t surprise me if they both implement changes shortly

Hasnt the Washington situation come up more due to the creater of the team being a racist therefore the name had a lot more impact ?

I don't follow the MLB so don't know much about either. Seems odd that anyone would think it's normal to use a group of people as a prop for naming your sports team though.

I heard Cleveland are changing their name. Didn't know anything about Atlanta until now and seems they are saying they won't. If they get the the same pressure as Washington, that will change. Money talks.

Really SPR - I guess it never occured to me that it was offensive

Does that mean calling yourself after animals is strange as well ?

People Vs Animals. Animals aren't going to realise you've named your team on them based on a stereotypes of them. Stereotypes is the only reason it would be used.

No one names a team Denver Pussycats*...

*Someone will probably prove me wrong, lol.

Like naming a team for their collective hatred of the Brits?

As I say I'm not a racist on any level but there are things in modern life I don't understand.

I never even saw racism where I grew up, I had to move to England to be exposed to it.

There was a time when a perception of something and then subsiquent naming was seen as a compliment.
