I always thought that a four game pre-season was a lot considering the NFL is only a 16 game regular season anyway.

Russell Wilson is not happy about playing as his wife is expecting. There must be a lot of players who are unhappy about the season go ahead.

Size if squads seems to make it impossible to control especially with the high number of cases in the states.

Can't see how you bubble the NFL like the NBA.

The NFL will at least get a preview of some issues when baseball starts. And they don't have the Canada problem.

4 preseason games was largely a money issue.

The best and strangest team nicknames are in minor league baseball, with some honourable mentions for minor league hockey and college sports.

I can see the need for at least one, if only to dry-run the logistics in the current environment.

Baseball friendlies have already started (we were 6-2 up through. the fifth yesterday and managed to lose 8-6).

*correction from earlier* the Blue Jays are in Boston.

All the Red Sox feeder clubs are called Red Sox. And the Bruins clubs are called Bruins. Beyond that, Crimson is a perfectly reasonable name for a team.

I did wonder having just heard that the Canadian govt wanted no part of invading baseball teams.

My 'local' Binghamton Rumble Ponies
Montgomery Biscuits
Toledo Mud Hens
Altoona Curve

Hartford Yard Goats
Richmond Flying Squirrels
Syracuse Sky Chiefs
Albuquerque Isotopes
Modesto Nuts
Vermont Lake Monsters
Savannah Sand Gnats
Auburn Doubledays

The silliest in College sports must be the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs. Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens, Georgetown Hoyas, Kent State Golden Flashes anyone? And I'm sure Larry Bird was very proud to have been an Indiana State Sycamore, Michael Jordan to have been a Tar Heel and Drew Brees a Boilermaker. Presbyterian Blue Hose just sounds Victorian.

Two of my local hockey affiliates were the Syracuse Crunch and the Albany River Rats. Rockford IceHogs and Fayetteville FireAntz are a bit silly but I like the Florida Everblades.

I am not going to put in an internet search to find out if the Butte Pirates were an urban myth or not...
