Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

we've never had anything quite so Mediterranean as a spring newt :-) is your greenhouse in a very sunny spot? Do you heat it in winter?

It is in a sunny, sheltered spot AND I heat it in winter. Costs me a fair bit a month for 6 months of the year, but well worth it. After all, I am no longer spending money on new shoes and kit, so hey :)

The pleasure I get from that greenhouse and heating it is immense! It gets you through winter, especially in a lock down where you cannot go on holiday. I always go on holiday in winter, because I can't go away in summer. Walking in there, the warmth, the exotic plants, the colour, the scent...

Raffo loves being in our greenhouse Han, if we ever feel a bit richer I think I should tell him it would do his soul good to heat it.

It's not big but is brick and part sunken, built with the house well over a hundred years ago.

Today’s newt is starting a newt pottery project during zoom class. I have no idea what it is yet. Something to do with lights and flowers! I was too busy to plan so just started working with the clay

Today’s newt is hunting down some binoculars and looking to see which birds were feeding in the tree outside our bedroom window. A pair of goldfinches as it turns out :)

About This Thread

starblackheartstar The sixth running of Do a New Thing for Spring starblackheartstar

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.

The first few pages of the thread give more ideas.
