Desert Running - Advice

It is my first time running in the desert, and there is obviously going to be a few challenges.... namely heat and sand. So I thought I would ask if any fetchies have done any of the desert marathons/events before, whether they could share some advice, thoughts, things to consider I may not have thought of. I've started to compile my kit list big one being desert gaiters (praying my super cobbler can attach these for me) but I am sure there are many other things we've not even thought of. Thank in advance!!

I did a half Ironman in the Nevada desert - it rained - so I couldn't give advice myself.

I bought Fixing your Feet book as its my biggest worry (not thinking of camel spiders at the moment haha) Jordan Ultra are doing a zoom call tomorrow. I was just thinking there must be some Fetchies who can offer some first hand advice. I have been fmailing rocking rory who I had spotted had done a Jordan ultra in the past.
