Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Watching the highlights, cringing hugely at Boycott's slaughtering of the Irish batsmen.

Son's team cut loose during cup game last night, and I was able to sit on the cover boundary and watch a pull shot soar through the air to the square leg boundary and the bonnet of my car!!

It was a rather one-sided affair (Thursday league cup 1st round so 1st div vs 3rd div). We scored 180+ in our 18 overs, and the opposition were 50 odd for 6 in the 15th at about 8:40 and it was getting murky. Quick single taken and the stumps thrown down at the bowlers end, (league) umpire gives batsman out. As batsman trudges back to pavilion, umpire turns to bowler "he was in but I've had enough of this"...

ThorntonRunner,

I know the feeling. Having qualified as an Umpire, I have now "stood" in three games this season. On Saturday just gone (20 May) by the time the game finished and I'd driven home it was 20:45. All for what was originally due to be a 45 overs game. Due a few showers it ended up as 35 overs each.

Oh - forgot to add Umpires don't get paid either. Apparently we get "expenses" at the end of the season & no mileage allowance
