I remember my first trip to Lord's. Ashes 1985. We were incredibly excited for two reasons: 1) To see the great IT Botham bat 2) To be able to drink all day (in those days pubs shut in the afternoons)
Classic top order collapse meant the great man was at the crease the over before lunch. Rather than play for the interval, he smeared an imperious boundary. We waited excitedly through lunch for the afternoon session counterattack.
It lasted about 3 balls....he smeared another imperious 6....or rather it would have been a 6 were it not for the Australian plucking it out of the air on the boundary rope......
The drinking did not disappoint, however...;-)

165-5 tea, cook just gone.
Caught a bit of TMS, poor old Blowers definitely off the pace these days. Anecdotes fine and amusing as ever, he just can't keep up and accurately describe the action - bit of a drawback in his job!

Bairstow seems to be the go-to man. Some a few tests back questioned his selection!

..........and no doubt will again when he hits a bad patch.
Reckon we will make 350, possibly 400.

Statto... according to the commentators on Sky, Bairstow is the highest international scoring batsman in the world over the last twelve months!

Bairstow to beat Gooch's 333 and Woakes to beat Broad's 169. England 696 - 6 declared Win by an innings and 250 runs some time on Sunday. Any takers?
