Good day for England in the end! and the few balls broad faced seemed to be dealt with fairly comfortably. I would leave to see him score a few tomorrow, he owes them a decent knock

As for explaining cricket try explaining tms to your missus. 'why is he talking about buses' today's special 'seagulls and do they eat worms' apparently yes.

Well their fucking operas last 5 days.....:-)
Decent day's action. Hard to call who'll be happier, let's hope we can irritate them by biffing a few tomorrow...at least the demon of Johnson will be diminished and our main man Sir Joe is up and running.

Too Much Water
Even if Ali get's a ton, it begs the question WTF is he doing batting at 8. Maybe he should replace Bell n the batting order and we can play an actual bowler in his place.

I was thinking exactly the same TMW. Not long ago he was an opener, now he's down to no. 8?? WTF?
Feel really sorry for the guy - he seems to have been pissed around left, right and centre.

Morning all. Am I the only one with a worrying memory of that first Cardiff ashes test, where England got 400+ and were feeling pretty pleased with themselves until Aus got 600+?

Different Aus batting line-up to '09
Hughes, Katich (ton), Ponting, Hussey, Clarke, North and Haddin
That team had Ponting, Hussey and Clarke who were top class players, plus the others were very good players (at the time).
Current team of Warner (good if he comes off, but can get him cheaply), Rogers (getting old and not in the greatest form), Smith (world class and in good form), Clarke (not the player he was), Voges (only played 2 tests), Watson (slogger and very vulnerable to swinging ball), Haddin (in awful form with the bat) is nowhere near as strong.

Katich, Ponting, North and Haddin all got pretty big tons in that game.

Fair points - how does the bowling match up, though? I worry about England's attack these days, apart from St Jimmy
