The bad news: Mini Nico tweaked her knee at rugby training on Tuesday, and has made herself unavailable for the first pre season friendly on Sunday. The good news: She has declared herself fit enough to play in the Women's (or is it Ladies?) softball cricket festival at Eastwood Town on Sunday afternoon (knee well strapped obviously) Don't know what she is more looking forward to, watching The Hundred at Trent Bridge on Saturday, or putting into practice all the skills she has learned since playing her first matches last weekend. Namely, how to move towards the ball when batting (she hit her first boundaries at training last night) or how to bowl with a run up (apparently the coach watched her first effort and said one word, "pace!". It's going to be a cricket heavy weekend ![]() |

I didn't realise the OD cup was being streamed. Watched a bit of the Yorkshire - Hampshire game at York on YouTube earlier. Camera work is 'interesting' at times. Commentary is simply the BBC website commentary that they do for all games. |

Sounds like a good weekend ahoy, Nicholls595 đ and that sheâs taking to it like a duck to water đ Iâd always go for women. đ Ladies is OK as a general term, but I think it should always be womenâs sport/team. You wouldnât say âGentlemanâs cricketâ. (I know itâs not in this case, but just putting it out there as a PSA đ - I have an issue with when people use âgirlsâ when talking about sportswomen - if using boys as a descriptor would sound stupid talking about men of the same age age, donât use girls - itâs belittling). |

Interesting, Phal and I'll happily comply. I *would* just say that boys is used a lot, by men about men, particularly in changing rooms and can be interchangeable with lads. So, in my view, it isn't in any way demeaning as used in 'come on, boys', 'well done, boys'. However, I am happy to take your counsel on the use of girls (being the logical alternative to boys in this context) and not use it. |

Oscar - I think itâs the same with women using girls as well - itâs the application of the word in context, same as men using boys đđ

Is football an exception ('the boys done good')? Although generally Phal, I completely agree with you. It's a belittling term. |
