What on/ off rain could mean is great bowling conditions for England at every start.

jda - I had a free £1 given to me as a promotion, so I lumped it on the draw at 12/1. I know betting markets don't do politics that well, and I'm willing to risk that this also extends to weather.

But England need to learn how to play test cricket again, if they accumulated runs more slowly and sensibly, Oz would not be in a position to win. The declaration was a poor decision, 380+ isn't a winning position, it's a competitive one for sure, but with 4 days left, who cares if a wicket is taken late in the evening or early next morning - it doesn't matter with 4 days of play, it makes no odds. You don't bowl amazingly in the evening and forget to bowl well the next day or vice versa. Sure you can have good sessions, but like the Tour De France, something rash is more likely to lose you the whole thing than win it.

Regardless of the pros and cons of England's approach, it's pretty clear TBF that without it, they'd have no chance of winning this game

Exactly. It's a decision/attitude of those who shoot for the very best days and some very bad days will be the inevitable collateral damage. (a very untraditional English cricket attitude perhaps)
