That Headingley pitch might be termed as being a bit 'lively'... And a Neser Hatty too. Sadly though its early on I am not sure Yorkshire get out of Div 2 this year. Seeing Durham go up after ECB doing them in would be great though.

My point has fuck all to do with race, creed or any personal characteristic. Which is to what you were alluding by using the alleged Vaughan quote.
What I don't like is the slide that's been going on for some time where the bigger counties with more money buy in players rather than developing the talent that comes through from their region.
And given the makeup of Leeds & Bradford, I rather think Yorkshire should have far more players of Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Indian background.
Rather than buying in Australian quick bowlers which is what they've done.

Yorkshire are one of the bigger counties with more money, by some distance actually. Population approaching 6 million. It's only the club's apparent policy of being not just for local people but also seemingly requiring several previous generations to be local people too that has held them back.
Still, at least the county will get to see a top flight team when Lancashire host a game at Sedbergh later in the year

I didn’t think it was that veiled and if any thread followers don’t get the reference then I’ll be surprised. I accept it’s not quite the same thing but it seems pretty likely the fabled insularity of Yorkshire(*) would feed into the problems at the club.
*which, incidentally, I have never encountered in my decade of living here. It seems my neighbours are much more open and generous than the stereotype suggests.
