I believe Stoneman is actually originally a Durham player who was one of the players I was referring to when I talked about Surrey splashing money around to buy up players in the early-mid 2010s. I was about to ask how come they're also playing two non-English qualified players in Roach and Abbott, and only just found out that it's because the CC now allows 2 overseas. I guess this is to offset somewhat the loss of Kolpak players which ended because of Brexit. (which I was not in favour of in the first place)

Especially given he's played all of 2 games since return from injury. Poor decision. And I'm not just saying that because it means Bairstow can't play for Yorks

But... you don't just need dashers. I think Foakes can feel this was a tough/harsh decision. I suspect it rests on the fact that Stokes/Bairstow have played more cricket together and he (Bairstow) can be an x factor player.
