Derek Randall played for Notts, and I'm sure most of both sides were made up of local players, but the big draw was Gary Sobers. Also, Venkat played for Derbyshire. Africa), Brian Hardie (Scotland), Norbert Philip (W. Indies) and John Childs (Plymouth) IIRC. And probably plenty more who I've forgotten.

As well as the competition and aiming to win the county championship. The situation is therefore different to football where the support of national teams is often very much a secondary objective of the club game.
