Very ironic that NZ are using us as warm up fodder for bigger things, sporting declaration in the hope of getting a tense finish, rotating players etc.

I cannot see why they don't pick a spinner. If it is the balance of the team then drop one of the mainly under performing batsmen and pick Woakes or Curran (sod that IPL crap).

Their logic is 'we need 4 proper quicks vs aus - bits and pieces players like Woakes/Curran will get carted on Aussie tracks with a Kookaburra. Our batting is shit and we need every batsman we can get. Stokes is crocked. The solution is not Moeen, but to convert Root to a front line spinner. We will play this set up throughout Summer, regardless of its unsuitability for home test matches.'

The trouble with that is the continued reliance in Broad, Anderson and now Stokes. If you keep saying to the test of the team you can't win without them, they won't. They need to say here you go, here's a place, play well and it is yours. Woakes will do well enough in Australia given the chance, I thought both Anderson and Broad made hard work of it last game. I know we say this all the time but it is coming, be prepared...and Leach he must get a game. England won't win in Aus with any combination of the medium fast bowlers they have.
