Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Would be a world record run-chase. It would be an astonishing feat to get 420 in a day plus probably 15 overs today, on what will be a worn pitch. Certainly not out of the question though.

Ashwin overtook Botham in the all-time wicket list in this innings.

It should be out of the question. If it starts to look likely, slow the game down, negative bowling, just be professional and don't lose.

India think they can chase almost anything at the moment - especially after Brisbane.

And there seems to be a trend to teams being able to chase big 4th inns totals in the last few years.

It used to be anything of 200+ was pretty much a winning score and anything 300+ was almost miracle proof.

Think Ashes in 2001 where Mark Butcher (and noone else) chased down 315....

Interesting tactic to put Leach on, I guess the ball will turn the most while it's still hard.

Will bounce more when the ball is hard and sometimes skid on, rather than turning more.

Used to be never done by England teams that a spinner would open the bowling and it was unusual for anyone to do so.

But that's something that T20 cricket has also changed - teams much more open to it now.

Think Ashwin regularly opens for India.

Makes some sense - get your best bowlers on early.

Although I'm surprised that England didn't give Jimmy a couple of overs to see if it swung a little and nibble a couple out. I'd have opened with him and then gone to Archer if you wanted to start the other end with Leach
