Was Tuffers a worse batsman or fielder?
The Caddick-Tuffers-Mullally-Giddins attack was reckoned to be the worst tail end we ever put out. 4 no 11s, and 4 properly shit no 11s at that...

Oscar the grouch
Caddick high score 49 not out (Tests), Tufnell 22 not out (5 not out in ODIs!), Mullally 24, Giddins 7 (from 4 Tests). Test wickets 234, 121, 58, 12. Caddick not as bad as all that in fairness but nobody's idea of a number 8 Test batsman.

Caddick could bat well when he was in the mood. Most of the time he wasn't. Bit like his bowling. Either unplayable or buffet bowling, no in between.

I can’t really remember much about Caddick batting other than he just looked wrong.

You could still see he had big ears. Even with a Helmet on.
Tuffers was a very, very good bowler. Giddens and Mulally weren't.

Mullally and Giddins would be in my archetypal County trundler attack. Igglesdon and Agnew complete the quartet.
