Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Harmison was too inconsistent apart from a golden few months in 2004 and Freddie was blighted by injury once he began to realise his bowling potential. Hopefully Archer can have a long career where he maintains form and stays injury free. For a short pitched barrage, today reminded me of clips from 1976 when Michael Holding was trying to kill Brian Close.

Smith will have to take a concussion test again this morning. If he fails he can't bat today but can be replaced by a concussion substitute (probably Marnus Labuschagne). He will also be out of the next test match. Delayed concussion apparently not unusual and Smith clearly not himself when he came back on yesterday.

If I was an Aussie batsman that Archer spell would have given me a sleepless night. The rest of the summer must now seem less straightforward than it did yesterday morning.

Any victory will be hollow and meaningless. I'd like to see the team win, but not in that way. Any true competitor wants to beat the best not beat them unconscious.

So FR, Aus victory at Edgebaston test was hollow and meaningless because Anderson only able to bowl 4 overs. Injuries happen. It clearly wasn't deliberate.

Do they really bowl to hit and hurt, or just bowl to an area where they should be ducking out of the way to avoid scoring? I suspect the latter - bowl such that the batter believes they might get injured, and therefore avoid. Smith played no shot at that delivery - his fault for getting hurt (IMHO!)

Disagree. Short-pitched bowling has always been part of the game and shit happens.

(You may guess I used to be a fast bowler in my youth)
