The worst part about it all is giving Boycott a chance to say "I told you so!"

Judging by the BBC web-site it sounds as though the Aussie bowling was fast and aggressive. Proper test match cricket

Oi Gobi where are you? Could do with a nice confident prediction that this one's petering out to a tame draw right now....

Morning Sarrers, morning everyone.

Yes, I'm waiting for the confident draw prediction from Gobbers. Was a bit of a shock to the system when I saw the score this morning...

Morning Teaboy, morning everyone.

Was it really a "shock to the system"? Surely I can't be the only one who wasn't in the least bit surprised?

Actually it wasn't. As I said the other day, those of us used to England in the 80s and 90s live in permanent fear of the dreaded collapse!

Agreed, as horrible as it was this morning it was comfortingly familiar too.

As some of us pessimists/realists noted, signs where there in the summer, but we kept getting away with it mainly due to Ian Ronald. And we always get battered at Perth (fast, bouncy pitch), so it doesn't take a brain surgeon to work out they'll try and make every pitch as Perth-like as possible this series.

I wasn't surprised at all. Our bowling has been fine recently but our batting has been poor. Six wickets for nine runs, worse than club cricket!

Too much emphasis on KP getting his 100th test cap, too much emphasis on which bowlers to select, not enough emphasis on our batting line up.

No real purposeful warm up games for the batting line up, having the openers bat into the 150s isn't great preparation for the guys who really needed time in the middle. Some good bowling by the Aussies as usual helped by inept batting by England. 1 down 4 to play, but need to at least get 20 wickets in this match just to remind the Aussies we still can.

Ah the ebb and flow of the game, more like a tidal wave though.

Bit of a bloodbath really with some piss poor shots. Cue a Mitchell Johnson wankfest and Boycott once again telling us how the fast bowlers are a piece of piss these days and if the batsmen faced Roberts, Holding, Marshall, Garner or Croft they would be about 11 all out.
