It does say in the instructions about not eating or drinking half and hour before taking the test. I see Scotland recorded over 5 thousand positive cases yesterday. In my age group numbers are stable but in younger age groups a sharp rise this week. Not looking good. |

I always do my LFT as soon as I get up ( I keep them in the bedroom ) so no food or drink. Quick question ( I know I could google ) does anyone know how soon after you’ve had Covid can you donate blood? I haven’t donated for years and wanted to start again. |

Wonder if the nasal only ones are impacted by having a meal in any way? My biggest problem with the latest batch of tests is that my 19yo son with Downs Syndrome is constantly pretty snotty and isn't that good at clearing his airways. So his nasal only swabs are, shall we say, contaminated. The current packs of tests we have comprise a mini test tube and a detachable cap which seems to have something of a filter inside it. And consequently the snot laden buffer solution is a right pain in the rear to get out, such that we often end up just leaving the top off and pouring some stuff into the testing hole. On that basis I'd be pretty lacking in confidence that all negatives from him will be real negatives. That said, as there are four of us also doing tests the chance of him testing positive and the rest of us being in the clear is pretty unlikely. |

Buckle up everyone. Especially, try not to need any medical attention (for any reason, covid or otherwise) in the next few weeks!

my.blood.co.uk If you have tested positive and had symptoms of coronavirus you must wait 28 days from resolution of symptoms. If you have tested positive and not had symptoms of coronavirus you must wait 28 days from the date of your last positive test. If you have tested negative but had coronavirus symptoms you must wait 14 days from resolution of symptoms. If you had coronavirus symptoms but have had no test or awaiting a result of a test you must wait 28 days from resolution of symptoms. |

Having been chatting with my friend (who also got a positive lateral flow from a flowflex one) - like mine, it wasn't a very clear line - more a faint grey line by the T [so nothing like the pictures I've seen]. Both of us had had these packs for a month or so - and both then got negative PCRs. She has now done a lateral flow using a new pack (this time Orient Gene) which was fine. We're both thinking we were examining the positive ones too closely! (My friend because she had felt ill and me because she said she had a positive test). I'll do a Orient Gene lateral flow tomorrow (and am thinking my headache could be more due to dehydration as not in my normal routine).
