I'm missing my thursday cycle in as Mabel the Marin went to the Bike Guy for a check up.
Hoping it's nothing too serious, maybe just wash her face and give her a bit of love.
Put Erin's Voodoo Limba in for service at same time, since guy was collecting mine.
£30 each for basic service/clean and £10 for collection.
Not bad eh?

That reminds me, I didn't finish the job yesterday sorting out my chain. Must find time at the weekend...

Sadly a commuting cyclist was killed last week in an accident in Edinburgh. An NHS worker and a decent level club runner as well. Very sad and makes you realise the risks that remain.

On a separate note, 2 nights ago I was running and came towards a road crossing which was a small side road not often used. I looked over my shoulder and saw no cars but a cyclist. I am 99% certain he was not indicating and so I deemed it safe to cross. Just as I stepped out I heard him yelling and I managed to stop and I apologised.
After the event though I went over in my mind the sequence of events and was convinced he had not indicated, or certainly not at the point when I looked over my shoulder.

To be fair from your description it sounds like the cyclist should have given way to you anyway. Indicating or not. Discretion is advised on both sides, of course.
Most of my unpleasant interactions with vehicles seem to occur as I'm crossing over a side-road at a junction, and they either try to pull in front of me turning off the main road into the side road, or once recently I was crossing a wide road at the junction (uphill, quite slowly carrying a heavy shopping load) and the car appeared on the side road from round a blind corner, screeched to a halt and beeped its horn at me for being too slow! That got a mouthful in return.

I agree and as a cyclist also, I am very wary of pedestrians and so take extra care.
Its quote possible he had indicated either before or after I had looked, but he must have seen me look over my shoulder and would have known if I had seen him indicate or not.

When I went for my 'speeding awareness course' (smart motorway camera had me doing 72 in a 60 zone, nothing too crazy), the chap who ran the course was keen to point out that the only person who has a 'right of way' is the queen! His more serious point was that roads and pavements are shared spaces - a lot of the rage seems to come from entitlement with the pedestrian sometimes seen as the least allowed to be on the road, which is not the case. The chap also made the point that if a vehicle driver has seen someone in the road and there ends up being an accident, the court may take a very dim view i.e. maintaining speed and sounding the horn would not be deemed reasonable avoidance, so in the case with the bike rider above - shouting but not slowing down etc may also not be reasonable.

We are of course speculating that he didn't slow down

Simbil: Sounds like a reference to the frequently misused 'Right of Way' rather than 'Priority'.
If you'd started to cross, you had priority over anyone turning, though it's generally just easier if you can communicate in some way. That said, quite often I don't indicate on the bike in town, because it typically doesn't change priorities, and gives me more control to brake and steer. I'd normally have slowed though, and pretty much expect any pedestrians to walk at me.
