About to board my coach to Birmingham. I’ve been really busy and barely watched any commonwealths so far. Just a tiny bit of athletics, boxing and some of the 7s.
My mate who I’m going with arrived in brum this PM and said the atmosphere is buzzing in the city centre.
Can’t wait

I wouldn't say the table tennis was a terrible experience, it was just the seating was badly designed in parts and we landed in the worst spot.
For keeping young childrens' interest, I think the athletics worked far better though. Easy to go for a wander and find some food/drink/sweets as well, and in the fresh air.
The staff at NEC were warning people they couldn't leave the table tennis area and return later, so you couldn't go to the outdoor area with the deckchairs and big screen even though there was no table tennis on at all for an hour between the matches.

I've just had that with the netball as you have to leave to go to the box office, lol.
Netball has been good as the teams are closely matched. Hopefully that's the same for the next couple of events I go to (also got badminton on Monday).

Got a ticket for the first netball semi final tomorrow. For once a ticket popped up and was actually available.
The final should be starting just as the table tennis finishes on Sunday so would be great to get one for that. Annoying that they shut the resale site early as there's likely someone that can't make it.

I really enjoyed the Badminton at the NEC. View from the seats was really good and matches are relatively short so I think we saw 6 matches (and could also see a second court). The Athletics at the stadium on Wednesday was great too.
