A particularly unpleasant colleague said to me after the Rotterdam Marathon 2007 (32 degrees) 'Heat doesn't make a difference to your time, cos the elites finish in the same time as usual' I didn't really have an answer other than, 'well they train in heat, and also they are out in the heat for half the time!'
