Sioux, I don't think you missed me. If you did there was another marshall who looks like you who is probably lodging a sexual assault complaint this morning. A very big sweaty hug, just before Santa came through I'd guess.
I paid for racing twice on Saturday! Sat on the 3:30 pacer for the first 13 miles feeling very comfortable, so decided to take a risk and push on for the second half and see if I could get close to a PB. All was going well to 19 when I started to cramp badly in the calves, hammies and outside of the shin(?!). After that it became a case of run, stretch, run for the next 7 miles. The 3:30 bus came past me about 22 miles - if I'd have stuck with it I suspect I'd have been OK, but nothing ventured...
Still really happy with a 3:38 with the wheels coming off.
For a road marathon I loved that - it's up there with Windermere as my favourite. The organisation, support and goodies were all fab.
Very tempted to come aback next year and race it properly as I think I could go really fast on that course (especially if it was a bit cooler!)

3:38 with the wheels coming off. There were a fair few years when I'm sure that was on your list of "Things I will never say," Flanker
I'm liking the sound of this race for next year.

Indeed.
I'd really recommend it - and it's rare I say that about a road marathon!

Well done to everyone who took to the start-line and gave it a bloody good go.
Along with the hugely impressive Psimon (thanks for carrying the pacing 'stick' mate, and for being such good company all morning), I was one of the 3hr pacers and we ran a 1:29/1:31 split for a finish-time of 2:59.45s. Plan went like clockwork - build up a buffer of around a minute at half way, and slowly erode into that during the latter stages of the race.
In retrospect I think we got it spot on, but I'm humble enough to take any constructive criticism onboard. There was a huge, friendly group with us until 17/18 miles at which point some runners kicked on, some dropped back, and a few stayed with us.
So happy to have helped runners hit their target, or at least find out how close they are to sub-3 for next time. Super-proud to have helped in some small way one of the friendliest and best-organised marathons in the country. And relieved that I didn't let Chris, Andy, Dave (Pace Runner manager), my fellow pacer and most importantly any of the runners down.

Does anyone know if there is a link to the company taking the ofificial finishers pics just after the finish line?

Well done Njord - top pacing. Whilst I was waiting to cheer my mater over the finish line I spotted the 3;45 pacer jogging up the finish straight at 3:41 so a wee bit on the quick side. Having done a bit of pacing at parkrun I know how hard a job it is so being within 15 seconds of target is fantastic.

An absolutely brilliant race - echo all of the above comments... Great organisation, lovely route and superb venue for a recovery beer or three etc etc. Not a great run for me but hey ho, a top notch event that I would certainly recommend.
Sorry to hear about the DNFs - MrsJigs I saw you stood at the side of the road I think just after the loop. It was me who shouted "hellooo fetchie" but I wasn't wearing my fetch top in case you think it was just some random bloke shouting at you!
