Got home from the Lake District to find my number has arrived, any undulations in the 2nd half a Chester will be mere pimples compared to some of the monsters I've run up and down this week!
Fingers crossed everyone survives the taper madness. Let's hope I've dodged picking up the lurgi having spent a week living with amongst others, a coughing and sneezing toddler!
Excited!

I looked at the route profile. Unless I'm reading the y-axis wrongly, it doesn't even seem as hilly as most of my runs round Cambridge. When I'm comparing notes afterwards with my friends doing Bournemouth on the same day, I may say something different.

Ceratonia, it isnt really hilly at all, mostly some minor bumps. The problem is that there is a hill around mile 24 that comes at a bad time, if you had that in the first few miles it would be fine and broadly the course profile is first few miles go down as you head out of chester, but you have to go back up these as you get towards the end.

That was my point really - Cambridge generally being considered very flat indeed

and bizarrely I wore my chester shirt from last year to edinburgh parkrun and someone else who I have seen with a chester 2013 top saw me, asked if I was doing it and said he was marshalling at the finish line..... a small world

It's race week
Long term weather watch looking favourable as things stand but obviously too far out to take it too seriously!
My legs are feeling quite bouncy and fresh, let's hope they stay that way. Massage booked for tomorrow evening. 2 more short runs to go, tomorrow and Thursday!

My legs still feel tired. But I dd play hockey on sat and did 14 miles yesterday. They felt tired in the week before my last mara so not too worried. Still debating whether to just go for 2.45 or be sensible and not do something stupid such as going for 2.45.

So it's a sensible 6:18mm pace or stupid 6:18mm pace then Roberto?
Right, humour me now, I'm tapering so need something to flap about... Parking. I will be driving over to Chester on the morning of the race from a friend's where I'm staying about an hour away (Cranage). I gather that there isn't parking for everybody at the racecourse. What time do I need to get to the racecourse for to be sure of parking there? 7:30am? Or if I can't park at the racecourse, what's the best / nearest / cheapest option elsewhere? I have never been to Chester so will be relying on sat nav. Thank you!

Someone who's done it previously can probably advise better, but I would expect the racecourse has enough parking for everybody who wants it - there's surely enough space for several thousand cars as long as it's reasonably dry. I'd think aiming to get there by 7:30 is probably sensible more because I'm not sure how well the roman/medieval road layout will cope with thousands of runners all trying to get to the Roodee at the same time. There are loads of multi-storey car parks nearby, but they'll cost more.
