Wasn't there a 'famous' case where someone did take a colleagues number in someething like the Cambridge Half (possibly) and then either won it or won that person's age category partly because they were a 20 something and the guy whose number they had taken was a 50 something? I'm sure it was widely discussed on Fetch at the time too!

I remember the watch swapping but I wasn't aware of the more recent controversy.

A few of those mentioned in the Guardian article I recall, especially Jason Scotland-Williams. A very average runner who even I would have finished before, who somehow ran a negative split faster than Mo Farah in the London Marathon. I can't believe that even now he stands by his story of training exceptionally hard.

Shock horror! There appear to be a few Fetchies who have posted world class times for the marathon (not including marigold who actually is). fetcheveryone.com/fava.php?gender=m&distance=26.2&unit=miles I presume that these are half-marathon times, for example, thus denying another Fetchie of their place on the podium. A nudge or two might be needed to get them corrected. |

Kip Litton ranks alongside Rosie Ruiz as a 'win at all costs' Marathon runner. The story reads like a fantasy! newyorker.com |

In our cross country league one of the FV70 used to cut corners on a regular basis, but she was invariably last, so we didn't worry about it as it just meant we could stop marshalling that bit earlier.

I felt a little cheaty today. A PB looks likely by about 4 or 5 mins. An alternate course was used. Very flat. Normally it's all hills and I don't do hills hence I have only visited this nearby parkrun once before today. I didn't even know they had an alternate course. Even in the mud it was a breeze today.
