On the subject of cat names, I used to name each and every cat who was daft enough to come near me. My favourite was Aza (short for Aza little pusskin-poo) who was a kitten-like tabster who I believed used to wait for me on her garden wall on my route to school (yes, going back some 24 years here), where she would receive lots of fuss and my friend would complain about me making us late for school.
After an easter break, we walked past the house, and an elderly man suddenly darted out, asking if we were the kids who spoke to his cat - turns out she was old, and had passed away, but he wanted us to know she always used to meiow to be let out to see us He didn't tell us her name, but I'm pretty sure my name was right, as she used to answer to it
