Did anyone see the news report re. chips this morning? Apparently in 3 weeks' time if your cat is not microchipped you could face a £500 fine! I haven't seen any publicity for this but maybe I'm out of the loop. It doesn't affect me as Hester is a rescue so came with her chip already installed :-)

New Home Day! Tommy (with the ripped throat) has gone back to his rescuer. I'd say I am bereft but we currently have 10 cats in the house with a long queue outside the door (metaphorically) waiting to come in. So I don't really have the time to miss him. He was a friendly little chap though, I hope he settles in his new home.

We have always chipped fairly liberally, but ferals and farm cats (of which there are a lot round here) are a bit of a grey area in the new law.

Someone's farm cat got caught and neutered recently (as a presumed stray/feral), they weren't best pleased. Luckily not by us! If they'd bothered to chip it, it would have saved a lot of trouble!

It’s been featured on the BBC. I mentioned it in my blog the other day.

Ours are chipped, just in case they make a bid for freedom. Neither shows much inclination towards that, thankfully.

I think Tilly knows which side her bread is buttered.

Clever Tilly :-)

Bonnie is chipped (she came from Cats Protection ready chipped) but had a call from the vets this morning asking for her chip number as they didn't have a record of it. I guess they must be checking all their patients' records ready for the new law.
