Your neighbours sound as though they're making a very generous offer and it's something which is valuable to you if it means you can stick to your usual routine (if I understand correctly). They're looking at making, say, at least 5 or 6 visits each week. In your place I think I would offer something like £20 each week for their time - not as much as a formal cat sitter but something to compensate them for their time. I'd missed the news re your mum - so sorry to hear that.

Then I paid my friend's teenage daughter £3. I am in a very rural location where rates are generally lower than average.
