Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

C Block - there's no place like it.

The rotating chair sounds fun :-) Everyone will be wanting a go. Although wouldn't it be better to remind people to keep all their hands to themselves - it's not the 70s any more.

Now that the nights are drawing in, a number of you have mentioned how dark Observatory Drive is if you have to walk to and from Greenwich House in the early morning or evening. Unfortunately, it's not possible for the lighting to be improved due to the proximity of the Institue of Astronomy which needs to be darker at night. Therefore, we recommend either walking with others, using a torch or walking along Madingley Rise instead.

So you can't observe the observatory but you can observe stars 100 million miles away... the light's not that bad then.

[Glenn, before I read to the end of your post I thought "Observatory? Surely it's supposed to be dark?" Then I read on! :-) G ]

Active Learning Workshop

Put Yourself in the Driving Seat:

Strategies for Formula One Active Learning Practice

Fri 2nd Dec 2022 @ 12.30—2.30

MS Teams 2hrs

This practical workshop will engage participants with active learning strategies, techniques and practices. Whether your teaching and learning (T&L) event(s) requires a quick fuel injection or a complete refit, you will find the guidance and support you need at this pit stop. The session will introduce you to the “absorb, do, connect” approach to teaching and learning. It will then focus on practical, easy to implement strategies and techniques you can put into immediate effect to inject active learning into your teaching. Alternatively, you might like to use this debrief to plan your next circuit race for a module in semester two. Finally, you will have opportunities to discuss any sessions you feel are in need of some active learning acceleration.
