To be honest, that's why I've completed so many Enigma events, 50 miles drive there, 50 miles drive back, not extortionate entry fees. Compared with say Brighton, I'd be kissing good-bye to a minimum of £200, that's at least four enigma's.

I'm considering this. My running buddy, Ed, wants to do his first marathon this autumn and I've been looking at the options. Suggestions so far are Loch Ness, Dublin, New Forest (don't have details for this yet), Leicester, and this one. I need to factor in travel from London and accommodation costs, which is why this appeals. Also I have family in Bath so could meet up afterwards. Is the elevation towards the end really brutal? I couldn't see a route map anywhere. |

Hey all, i'm getting back into running after a long break, and I have just signed up for this with my brother in law, one of his 'before / at 30 years old' targets, so we are going from not having run in quite a while to this at the end of the year. Possibly crazy, but it made me go for my first run today! There is a route map if you scroll to the bottom of the homepage here bristolbathmarathon.com elevation at the 20 mile mark looks lethal. Will be checking these forums for advice advice and tips a bit more often I think! Paul. |

All through bitton and Kelston is pretty undulating. none of it is vertical, the descents are much steeper at Willsbridge and after Kelston(which is a good reason for not going the other way). Pen Hill at mile 23 should be challenging and there could be another nasty slope before Royal Victoria Park. Need to do my hill reps in training
