Can we still do that? I’ve made a decision not to run this year; if I can defer to April I might do so but it seems a bit late in the day now.

I did it a couple of weeks ago actually - not sure if the window is still open for that

You could try to see if the deferral option is available in Race Roster. I am still going ahead next month although it will be more of a run-walk marathon.

There have been an awful lot of complaints about the lack of a bag drop on the day. I’m feeling more and more glad that I’d already decided not to run. In the past this has been something of a Fetch-fest with a big post-race meet up and sometimes an overnight stay, but I would have been training, travelling and running alone this year and I don’t want to run a marathon enough for that.

Yes, Facebook's going into meltdown about no race day bag drop, people accusing Marathon of doing it to save the cost of baggage trucks, which I think is unlikely. Brighton council have been very picky about signing events off - we had delays getting them to sign off parkrun so I imagine they were much more picky about an event with 15000 than they were about a few hundred parkrunners! It may be that it was a choice between no bag drop or cancel - I don't have any inside info, just guessing. |

Seems to be quite odd that no bag drop available. I've run a few races this year with bag drops. I guess the race day will be a bit similar to parkrun. Just turn up and race? |

Having to take my stuff to the beach village is going to be a pain as my race pack is being sent to me. I don't think I'm left with any alternative. I presume that everyone will arrive in Preston Park dressed to run. Hopefully it won't be chilly like it was a few years back when the kit bags were tiny and there was little room for post-race change of clothes. That was a bitterly cold morning and many of us turned up in little more than running kit. I suspect that charity shops are going to do well out of us runners. |

Bin liners could be the way forward then 😀 I’ve got stacks of those tin foil space blankets too |

For anyone coming down for the weekend, for you or non racing partners, Preston Park parkrun is going ahead, giving you the chance to cross the marathon/10k start line lots of times! (plus 4 other parkruns in the city as well that don't have marathon infra structure all over them if you'd rather not see the start line lots of times!) |
