Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

You must choosinate whichever book you most want to read and discuss. (Discuss?)

I bet in the Olympics if you called a discus, a Frisbee instead, the competitors wouldn't like it. But it is basically the same game, except with a Frisbee you can also have a cute little terrier that will catch it. That makes it miles better.

Sorry, what thread was this again?

Not so much democratising as showing that there was some decision making process going on :)

Anyway.

LHOD is booted because it explores ideas too similar to my last choice.

Embassytown is booted because the review suggest it's good on the language ideas but weak on characterisation, and I think that would be a deal breaker for too many of the regulars here.

Never let me go is booted because LindsD has read it and she nominated me.

Cancer Ward is an absolute classic, and it'll be interesting to read almost 50 years on in the context of what's going on in the former Soviet Union these days. Enjoy!

This is my point. BTOOT was positively hilarious compared to the rest of the recent choosinations.
