I may create one as I want to review TPOG (in fact I am writing it now - spoiler alert: I give it 8/10, but I have a few caveats).

Was it that you worked out the SPOILER was SPOILER?

Just started Orhan Pamuk's "a strangeness in my mind" about a yoghurt and boza seller (an fermented wheat drink) in Istanbul over the decades, starts well - as he is seemingly duped into an elopement, already v.interesting, epic 740+ pages to keep me going! A good translator does make a difference, some of Pamuk's translations are very stilted, but this one is excellent. Also finished the third in the Dublin murder squad series (Faithful place), which had at its heart, an elopement too, must pick up book 4, but the central character of book 4 was a right prick in book 3 (as a peripheral character) so be interesting to see how that pans out. |

When you read it, you'll probably find an interesting contrast with the protagonist of book 3.

Here's Dio's Unofficial Thread http://www.fetcheveryone.com/viewtopic.php?id=59469 I'll bung it in the side bar as well. Dio was taking about The Player of Games by Iain M Banks which has been talked about so much that it's almost like an official choice. But we could also bung into that category, The End of the World Running Club and The Watchmaker of FiddlyDee Street. |

I say Maccers-Gooers. Should I get Fetch to garbage-collect the 'Beyond Brontemania' wire or does it still have merit in this brave new world? |

I think it still has it's place for general literary discussion. I'm resuming my reading of The Golden Notebook by Doris Lessing. |

That takes me back. Crumbs. Don't think I've read any Doris Lessing for thirty years. I recall really loving Martha Quest, but I can't for the life of me remember why.
