Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

I read Zamyatin's "We" earlier this year - definitely worth reading as a landmark dystopian novel - will be interested to hear what you think Nemo...

Started "The fountain overflows" last night. Rebecca West.

This will not prevent me from chasing up the December book, however.

Amazing how one can have 40 odd items on a wish list on Amazon and wait for ages for the price to drop........... and then over the space of three days pick up three books for 99p each.

anyhows:

Black Out by Ragnar Jonasson (3rd in the Dark Iceland series) and
No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy

are both 99p on the kindle store at the moment ;-)

The other one I picked up is Orphan X by Greg Hurwitz.

Would anyone be able to help me with a present buying dilemma? 🎁 I'm looking for recently published (i.e. in the last year-ish) fiction, the sort that you read and immediately want to tell everyone else to read, you have to, go on, you'll really be missing out if you don't, go on go on go on... That type of thing. Not read much* new stuff this year, so all suggestions gratefully received. Hardback or paperback.

* Only one I can remember is His Bloody Project, which doesn't quite work for me.

Any particular genre beebop? I really enjoyed Girl On A Train if you like slightly trashy thrillers. Or I've just finished The Watchmaker of Filigree Street which is probably a steampunk kind of book.

I came onto the thread to say that the book I'm reading currently (We) has just been the answer to a University Challenge question B-)
