Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Finished 'Our Man In Havana' - I enjoyed it in the main, although I'm left still a little bit foggy about how it turned out.

Started 'Mr Penumbra's 24hr Book Store', which has ticked quite a few boxes so far - and made me wish we'd bought taller book cases.

I remembered I wanted to recommend 'The Trouble With Goats and Sheep' by Joanna Cannon to you all, despite the fact that I haven't read it myself yet. I have been following Joanna's journey to publication for a while via Twitter, read some excerpts and short stories, and have absolutely no hesitation in saying it's worth reading. She also has a lovely dog called Seth, so that's a good thing.

sharkie - a quick look on Amazon shows that Outlaws has been reprinted a couple of times (most recently in 2013) and is easily available - might make that my next GVH to buy...!

Really enjoying The Great Gatsby. I thought I'd read it before, but so far I haven't recognised a single event/scene.

"a cross between Kafka and Alice in Wonderland"? - I think that will go on my "to read" list.

I noticed that Graham Greene's The Third Man is Radio 4's Book at Bedtime next week.
