Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

My picture is mid shelving, which is why my very lovely copy of Great Expectations is lying horizontally above some Ian Banks.

I loved the Crow Road. I started watching the series on TV, and turned off part way through episode one, as I felt like it was so well written I wanted to read it. It was a good decision. One of the best opening lines ever.

There's bound to be a lot of similarities here - the same books were popular when we were still reading the choosinator's choices.

Ian Banks and Terry Pratchett were prob the two most universally popular choices.

Little Nemo - this kitten can
Struggling with The Unconsoled. It's such an odd book as the story is like a dream. One of those dreams where you're on your way to somewhere but you keep meeting odd people or people you haven't met for years who insist on taking you somewhere else. And then you suddenly remember that you've left a small child in a cafe but it's OK as the place that you spent ages getting to is actually in the same building that you started from. It's getting a bit easier now that I've accepted the weird style but I'm failing to see the point of it all at the moment.

I'm also reading Born To Run. I would probably never have read it but I got it as a present and I'm quite enjoying it. Sometimes the author comes across as annoyingly naive and optimistic about things but maybe that's just because I'm a big old cynic :-)

I finally managed to finish Quicksilver. Have to say it was a slog at times and I don't think I will be reading the other books.

Now reading the final book in Veronica Roth's Divergent trilogy.
