Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

I have the Audible version of The Promise downloaded ready to go. I finished David Mitchell's "The One Thousand Autumns Of Jacob de Zoet" this morning, so I can crack on immediately.

I also have a physical copy of Benjamin Labatut in my bag, which is surprisingly light, so I might be knocking two book group books off the list this month. Heady times.

Heady indeed Dio :)

I wonder about audio books. I love the act of holding a book, but lying on my new sofa listening to someone reading to me? Sound appealing!

I don't think that lying on a sofa is good for listening to Audiobooks, you either lose concentration or fall asleep. Best time for me is when driving or walking. You might be able to listen while gardening?

If I'm feeling run down I like to listen to Audiobooks while doing jigsaws. Keeps both sides of my brain active in a non-taxing way :-)

I like to be gardening when I am gardening and when driving, I drive. I get too distracted otherwise. I think I shall stick to books :) I cannot do background music either...

There's some background music I can't cope with when I'm coding - stuff with lyrics that draw my attention. I'm ok if it's something I've heard 1000 times before, but I tend to stick to drum & bass / house / electronic stuff, which I can enjoy the rhythm of without it taking my focus.

Longform ambient for me - some excellent stuff I've discovered too. I must be getting old.
