Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Yes, it’s a happy read, Dippers, and that’s part of my problem with it - it’s all a bit easy and, despite starting in a difficult place and threatening to go off the rails at times, everything works out exactly as you hope and expect. As a teenager I would have loved it, read it in a few hours then moved on to the next one. As a grumpy older person, I still liked it, but I have a more critical appreciation.

"a disparate group of women charged with embroidering kneelers for the Cathedral" would make a perfect "about this thread" siderer.

[continuing my discussion with Dipps: Oh, and I loved the chess, even though (as mentioned before) I am useless at it! Almost made me want to start playing again]

Finished High-Rise yesterday evening, will review it later.

Currently reading Kraken by China Mieville which I struggled with initially. The main character was a bit annoying to start with but it's getting better now.
