I think the only Barbara Cartland I ever attempted was at a holiday home. Try the kids books Dio there may be a ripping yarn lurking

Thinking on my feet here, but I definitely had a thing for Mervyn Peake and read his Gormenghast stuff. I know that was only a few books, so not sure it qualifies here.

What a great group. Where else would you hear Barbara Cartland, Sidney Sheldon and Mervyn Peake on the same page? :-)

The closest I’ve come to reading Peake is the dentist I went to as a child was in the building where he lived when he wrote Gormenghast.
