That's true i remember reading a Ken Follett book 600+ pages sped through that unlike some 150 pagers that has taken a eternity

TLWTASAP is long but it's a very easy read. Quite simplistic (even for sci-fi), with no real conflict and very one-dimensional. I think The Overstory is a good choice.
