That's a shame, John and Russell have just "passed" each other, but it happened in the forest and they chose slightly different paths thru the forest so didn't look like they actually passed each other.

Did anyone spot that Jean Brown did a solo Paddy over the weekend? Pretty impressive.

JK has given an update on his attempt - it was gut issues that caused him to stop

"Congrats to @russell_runner on a new winter Paddy Buckley Round record! It was an incredible day out in Snowdonia & I'm thrilled all the work he's put into this round paid off. I hope me being out there pushed him one or two minutes faster. 😅

My round (in the opposite direction) didn't quite have all the planned results. My goals were to: 1) enjoy it, 2) see where my body is after my Tor Des Geants rhabdo disaster, and 3) complete it in < 24 hours. I definitely succeeded at 1, mostly at 2, & failed at 3. I probably could have walked the rest of the way from where I stopped and made sub 24, but then I definitely would have failed at 1 and erased any recovery and rebuilding regarding 2.

It was a beautiful day, the kind that the pictures here just don't do justice. From Moel Siabod at sunrise I could look down the ridge and see the exact spot on the horizon where the bright hues of the sunrise on my left were battling with the dark hues from the setting of the full moon over Snowdon on my right. For most of the time, it was one of the most enjoyable runs I've had in a while. If anything, it was a bit warm. I ran without purpose, running just to run, never pushing and never once checking my schedule, smoothly moving over the Moelwynions and the Nantlle Ridge.

But heading over the Snowdon Massif the story became all too familiar - nausea and very acidic burping that gradually progressed from an annoyance to a hindrance to me doubled over puking my guts out begging the indifferent sheep around me to make it stop. It was maybe all too convenient to stop at Llanberis, but at the time I was 100% happy with it. Admittedly, now, not so much. In any case these stomach issues extend beyond running and I absolutely need to get them figured out. In the meantime I'll keep enjoying what I can and doing everything possible to be ready for 2022's big goals."
