Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

I wonder how the algorithm accounts for known patches of boggy terrain, minor undulations, runners trods, impassable crags etc

Along with flanker's comment about strengths and weaknesses of the athlete I seriously question whether an algorithm is optimal.

Lol DT. 😂 the fat levels need a bit of topping up given the forecast temperatures plus the extra weight helps me actually stay on the ground 😉

Yes. I think, from my very non-technical brain point of view, there is a lot that the spreadsheets etc can do. But they won’t be able to match on the ground knowledge of runners and supporters.

Think that’s why I’m so impressed. I’m in awe of the knowledge and experience some people possess. But it really brings it home when it’s so clear.

Watch has been going off with storm warnings since mid afternoon, a lot more than during Arwen. Weathers been pretty wet.

It looks like they’ve both got away. Has Tom intentionally chosen the boggiest bit first?

I don't think bogginess was part of the reasoning, but it does seem that way 🙄

Is today the first day of the window of the winter round? I’m guessing they’re both heading out now before it gets even wetter and snowier?

Any news from out on the hills as to how the guys have faired overnight ?

They are moving at a remarkably similar pace. If you take the time from their 1st "same" top, ie High Rigg, to Pillar, then almost identical times of 23.5 hours
