What an incredible few weeks it's been for fell running! Just saw JK and Damian Hall on the BBC talking about the PW.

After a long hiatus from Fetch (career change, lots of time spent studying for professional exams, no time to even think about training seriously for the BGR), I'm coming back to my old thoughts of doing a round. It's nice to see you're all here, and still heading out into the fells!

I also moved house to the Yorkshire Dales, which helps the training ;-) My fell running is stronger than ever at the moment - I just need to get the distance in my legs.

My head is also coming back to thoughts about attempting it MC. A couple of friends also completed it recently. I have talked about it for years and said a few years ago that I would when I turn 30 which is next year. Near the cheviots so could get some training in. May do a marathon early next year and push on from there for next summer if my other half agrees.

I'm turning 40 next year, so I feel like I definitely need to at least attempt it soon.

I have managed to fit a lot of fun hills in in the last few years btw - just that training for the BGR was sadly not compatible with exams/studying and working full time.

I never miss a LDMT if i can help it, did the last ever LAMM on Harris in 2018, discovered an excellent biannual 2 day MM style race in the Cairngorms in November (the Grampian Mountain Challenge - highly recommended if you like that sort of thing) etc.

Cheviots is an ideal place to train. I've spent very little time up there really, but really enjoyed it. Am going to visit again soon 🙂

Just north of Skipton. York is lovely, but it's flat flat flat.... if you want to run up a proper hill from York it's a 45min drive.

Now I can run up a proper hill from my front door. :-)
