Finding the balance btwn challenging youngest and putting him off completely is going to be weather dependent - and also depends on how well the dog pulls him uphill

There are some wonderful Lakeland 'situations' on the BG. The rakes leading up to Bowfell spring to mind; well away from tourist paths. The Foxes Tarn ascent springs to mind, as does descending from Sca Fell. I love the traversing trod off Yewbarrow, (and the rest of leg 4 too)

The Scafell to Wasdale descent is awesome 😀 As is Blencathra tonThrelkeld via Halls Fell.
The drop into Honister is pretty special when you know you're going to get round.
It's all pretty good really.

The legend that is Bob Wightman came for a run out on the fell section of leg 5 on my round. I spotted him coming down into Honister and think I might have got a midge in my eye for a second. Dropping into Honister is so special if you know you are going to get round!

i'm not sure the slog up Clough Head is ever good, although there seems to be far more obvious lines on the ground than there ever used to be.

Flanker, in exceptional circumstances (i.e. on one of my recces, the sunset was such that the screes adopted to glow red add I was going up) the slog on clough head can be beautiful. The rest of the time though I'd agree with you.
DT you know that's your favorite section really...
