Sloggerian - i agree that it is good to focus on the bottom line - BUT incompetence on the scale that I saw on display today is going to get someone killed or seriously hurt - and THAT is not acceptable!!

Absolutely, eL Bee!
And when I put on the breakfast TV the Friday morning before the race, only to hear a spokesperson for the council saying that in future they'd like the event to be as big as the Great North Run, it makes me more annoyed about the organisation today!
In their dreams, will it be as big as that!
I think they just see it as a money making venture.

I enjoyed the race and some things were really good - you don't often get closed road like that - and the last mile down Broad St was a great finish. But we were all stood on the start line pointing to the pointless diversion after 30m and saying yeah that isn't going to work. The steep downhill carnage start wasn't ideal (and wouldn't have passed parkrun H&S check list) but it was sort of amusing going through mile 1 in 5.02. But I hope no one fell over.
I got to meet Mick n Phil (again) on the start line, cheer Blind Dave and chatted to Mo Farah at the finish - great to see all the running heroes out :).
The finish was fine earlier on. Overall good fun for a big race.
But if they're going to call it "green" they need to do something to force the train companies to provide some early transport.

Gave you a yell as you were finishing, Bob.
The finish worked until the main bulk of the runners came in from about 1:57 on
But then the finish 'funnel' squeezed 2 lanes of runners into a single lane and AT that point the first bit's 'n' pieces were being given out. So it turned into the M6 between J6 and J8 in rushhour!!
Easily solved by moving the water/silverfoil point further down the hill.
Agree that the Public Transport thing is pretty horrendous too.
But as Sloggerian quite rightly pointed out. It's organised by Birmingham City Council. 'nuff said!!
