My biggest tip for transition is just make it simple. I lay a towel out (small one) and put my shoes at the top of it with each sock resting on the top. I lay my number belt across this. My cycling helmet is on my bike saddle, as i rack with the bike pointing in towards the bar and my drink is already in my bottle cage. When i run out the pool/water i run straight onto the towel so that my feet dry, i bend down pick up the belt (cus its on the top of the pile) and put it on (ensuring the numbers are on my back/bum) then i slip into my socks and shoes one by one, stand up, put helmet on then grab my bike and run out of transition to the mounting line. When i come in from bike i dismount at the line (marshalls will tell you where icklechick) then try to run into transition. I rack my bike then undo my helmet (do NOT touch your helmet before your bike is racked), drop the helmet onto my towel then run out of transition whilst turning the number on my belt to the front. IC I will use my watch - shant bother with teh 305. They do take splits for you. your time starts when the pool counter says go your split is when you shout at the marshall on leaving the pool so a few seconds longer than the swim. T1 is from then until you pass the mount line on the bike (concorde take a split at the far end of the bike before we turn for home as it's an out and back) T2 is from dismount line until you pass the run marshal your finish time is when you finish the run I thinK! |

of course she is wearing sox where proper runners! I will too! I didn't do this last time but wet feet and sox is slow so try and have them rolled ready to put on helps aparently and if you have a L & R sox put it on the correct shoe! oh and we wear the tri top swimming - pulling a top on over a wet body is hard work as I did that last time! |

I wouldn't worry about your splits Icklechick, let them work that out for you. Concentrate on each discipline as you are doing it and not on your time. A calm, less manic attempt will stop you fatiguing before the finish. I ruined my 1st open water swim by thinking too far ahead and not concentrating on the actual strokes i was doing. I certainly didn't do it as well as i should have done. Focus on the swim then when that is completed, the bike and then the run. You're going to love it. Im crap at it, but i still love it ![]() Of course i wear socks - your not part of TFD unless you do ![]() |
